Artificial intelligence will rule 100 cities in Spain by 2023.

On April 2018 a district of Tokyo had artificial candidate running for election. My bet on it is that the replacement for most of our human elected candidates in democracies is ineluctable.

It is true that artificial intelligence is currently limited and that many psychological aspects of human behaviour are poorly implemented. But it is also true that we have enjoyed for a long time natural stupidity in our leaders. And that we also enjoy of corruption, inefficiency, and that political leaders care more for their convenience or their parties’ than the common good.

That’s why of my bet that 100 municipalities in Spain will be rule by artificial intelligence by 18-5-2023. Currently in Spain there are 8124, so 100 / 8124 = 1.2 %. Of course I do not expect that legislation will have change by that time (laws are rather slow to adapt to changes) and therefore It will be enough that their candidates support their decisions in Artificial intelligence.

The bet means that I will pay a cocido maragato to my colleague and friend Alberto Ortiz de Zárate in Astorga by 18-5-2023, but we will do some reminding meetings yearly to check what is the progress on this bet. May be it will be announced in this page cocido.com So on the 20th of April 2019 we will have our first reminder.

Apart from this I bet that none of current main parties in Spain (Podemos, PP, PSOE, Ciudadanos) will adopt this trend because it is impossible that these organisations dedicated to sustain on citizens’ backs will have the modesty to admit that reality is complex enough to need an #AI support. However have you check out the experience and qualification of the members of your parliament?

And I also bet that these 4 will bitterly criticise the first political party to support AI with adjectives like ‘ Orwell’s big brother‘, ‘skynet‘ , etc.

I am not predicting the complete substitution of our political system because there is a long way from current AI capabilities, but not using it is a matter of stubbornness.
